Who I Am

My name is Bernadette Conway, and this is the story of how I turned my passion into a career. I am a multi-award winning visual storytelling who has captured content through my lens for the past ten years.

You may ask yourself how someone so early on in their career has ten years of experience to begin with, but the answer lies in the video above. One day I picked up a camera, and I never set it down. More specifically I was gifted a GoPro Hero 4 Silver when I was 16 years old and started making videos based on transitions, shots, and cuts I would study through analyzing travel vlogs on YouTube. I started making these fun-loving videos of my family and friends in my every day life as a teenager and travels to Ireland. This quickly evolved into capturing the Long Island Catholic Education System from the perspective of a student, and that student was none other than myself!

I went on to acquire my Bachelors of Arts in Communications Media Magna Cum Laude with a minor in Theology and Religious Studies from Molloy College in 2021. During my undergraduate degree, I completed an internship for the Walt Disney Company and Molloy’s Athletics Department. It was in the Athletics Department where I live streamed their DII basketball, baseball, and lacrosse games during the pandemic. I served as a camera operator, video editor, technical director, and director for them. In my freetime I assisted Dr. Tom Kenny in the media lab assisting both high school and collegiate students in the art of film and editing.

Upon graduation, I worked for the Walt Disney Company as an intern serving on the opening team of the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser and producing a short film for the 20th anniversary and reopening of Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, collaborating with all resort departments and General management.

In March of 2022, I accepted a position with the Tampa Bay Rays. While being hired on for one position, I quickly learned 5 different roles by the end of my first season with them. Networking was my biggest tool at the start of my career, and by the end of 2022 I was freelancing as a wireless camera operator, handheld camera operator, sticks camera operator, PTZ camera operator, and Ross Xpressions operator for the Tampa Bay Lightning, Orlando Magic,  Osceola Magic, and Orlando Solar Bears. Additionally, I served as a production assistant and video editor to an Emmy winning Director of Photography on several commercials and campaigns including the LPGA, Florida Public Utilities, and various other Businesses.

In 2023, I accepted a full time position as a videographer and video editor for the United States Tennis Association and U.S. Open. Since accepting my position, I have created over 200 pieces of content and have won two telly awards for editing - non-broadcast and sports - non-broadcast for a piece focused on celebrating women’s history month for 2023. Additionally, for the first time in NCAA history, DI, DII, and DIII held their championships in the same place at the same time of any sport. I had the opportunity to cover the Mubdala Citi Open, the USTA’s annual meeting in Phoenix, AZ, various USTA foundation events and conferences, and coverage through out the year. Working as an associate producer for college matchday, and a Vmix replay operator for the Atlantic 10 Tennis Tournament streamed to ESPN+ has added to my diverse resume thus far.

In August and September of 2023, I had the esteemed privilege to work a historic US Open tournament with opportunities to work alongside Civil Rights Trail Blazer - Billie Jean King, United States Olympian and Mental Health Advocate - Michael Phelps, and various peoples of interest. I served as a camera operator filming ENG footage around the grounds covering both match play and exclusive events with the USTA foundation, Professional Coaches, various organizations, foundations, and the United States Military. From an editing side, I was responsible for delivering daily assets and highlight packages in collaboration with companies such as Cadillac, Dobel Tequila, LaRoche Posay, and others while providing footage to both Netflix and Sony.

Since accepting my part time and full time positions with the above organizations, I continue to build my resume in freelancing in 2023.

I began contract work for XLT management filming for Orlando City Soccer B and the Orlando Pride team using a liveU and serving as the only camera operator on site covering match footage, b-roll coverage, and in-game and post game interviews to be broadcast to FoxOrlando and streamed to AppleTV and YouTube.

I expanded my contract work in New York, New York serving as a camera operator for M2 Media. I had the chance to cover the Long Island Nets as a sticks camera operator for their in house feed, and stream to YES Networks. Additionally, I filmed the New York Islanders as a gimbal operator for M2 Media for their in-house feed.

In 2024, I added the Greater Orlando Sports Commission and the United States Olympics to my resume as I covered the Marathon Olympic Trials which was held in Orlando, FL for the very first time. I provided ENG footage of hospitality areas, crowd coverage, and marathon footage to be used in a sizzle reel recapping the event. I worked as one of two camera operators covering the entire event.

I continue to build my professional experience with the United States Tennis Association and the US Open, while freelancing for various professional sports teams in Central FL and NY. I look forward to what the future holds for my career, and know that the possibilities are infinite.
