Galway Getaway

In the summer of 2022, I went on a trip to Co. Galway, Co. Dublin, Co. Mayo, and the west coast of Ireland. Using a GoPro Hero 9 Black and a DJI Mini SE I recorded 4k scenic footage around the country. I then used Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects, and Adobe Media Encoder to perform non-linear editing and motion graphics.

To create my opening sequence, I used Adobe After Effects to create the search engine intro. I began by creating a solid white shape. I then imported a Google logo PNG, placing it over the white solid layer. I then created a rectangle, and made it light gray while rounding the edges to create my search bar. Placing a circle with a line making it a slightly darker gray on the same search bar to imitate the search icon. I then duplicated that layer for later on. I then typed Galway Getaway on the search bar, and used the typewriter effect. As every letter was typed, I placed a keyboard sound effect on my timeline. Next, I imported a mouse icon png and created keyframes to animate and move the mouse over the search icon. I then took the duplicated layer and placed it over the search icon, and raised the opacity to make it darker. I then placed a click sound effect on my timeline at the same frame as the search icon becoming darker, this was to imitate the viewer clicking the search icon. I then cut to a screenshotted jpg from google images of pictures throughout Galway, Ireland. I then created another solid to mask the search bar on the screenshot and used Galway Getaway text over that solid.

In the center of the screen I placed a screenshot of the first frame from my footage and scaled it down to place over one of the Google images. Beneath the image, I covered the original URL of the image I had covered and replaced it with my portfolio domain - bernadetteconway.com. I then created keyframes and animated a zoom in effect, while using motion blur to zoom into the frame. Upon doing this, the footage would begin playing, showing various drone shots throughout Ireland cutting to the beat of the selected music. Until showing GoPro footage upon the beat drop.

I then exported the footage using Adobe Media Encoder, and uploaded it to YouTube using YouTube Studio.
